To perform an abdominoplasty procedure an incision is made from hip bone to hip bone just above the pubic area. Then the skin is separated from the abdominal wall to reveal the vertical muscles in a patient's abdomen. These muscles are tightened by pulling them close together and stitching them into their new position. This provides a firmer abdominal wall and narrows the waistline.
